Jon Kurtz has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of research, evaluation, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E). Jon has held several roles at various organizations, including Mercy Corps, where they were the Senior Director for Research and Learning, UNDP, where they worked as an Impact Assessment Consultant, University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they served as an Evaluation Design Consultant, and the United Nations, where they worked as a Needs Assessment and M&E Expert Consultant. Jon also has extensive experience at ChildFund International, where they held multiple positions including Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant, Regional Program Advisor, Program Specialist, and Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Systems Enhancement. Prior to that, they worked at CARE as a Program Information Coordinator and Communications Consultant. Other roles Jon has held include Project Coordinator at Community Harvest Project, Inc., Community Organizer at the Congressional Hunger Center, and Training Consultant and Intern at Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre.

Jon Kurtz received a Certificate in Advance Study of Evaluation from Claremont Graduate University in 2011. Before that, they earned their MSc from Wageningen University & Research in 2003, specializing in Management of Agricultural Knowledge Systems and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Organizational Learning. Jon completed their BA in International Development and Sustainable Agriculture from Long Island University in 1998.
