Vijay Narayan

Vijay Narayan has a extensive work experience in the field of information security. Vijay currently holds the position of Chief Information Security Officer at Mercy Health Australia, which they started in 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Information Security Officer at the Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) from 2020 to 2023. During their time at EPA, they also briefly acted as the Chief Technology Officer.

Before joining EPA, Vijay worked for the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) from 2011 to 2020, where they held the position of Head of Information Security. In this role, they established and implemented an information security program, obtained senior management support, and ensured compliance with various security requirements. Vijay also provided security advisory services to various projects and processes.

Prior to AHPRA, Vijay worked as the Manager of Information Security & Systems at VicRoads from 2008 to 2011. Vijay also gained experience as an Information Security Consultant at Wipro Technologies in 2007, where they worked on application security assessments and supported ISMS implementation.

In 2005, Vijay held the position of Information Security Manager at CRISIL Global Research & Analytics, where they led the organization's efforts to obtain ISO 27001 certification and implemented security best practices. Vijay also worked as an IT Infrastructure Lead at Dun & Bradstreet earlier in 2005, managing the company's IT infrastructure in India.

Vijay started their career as the Head of IT at RndSoftech Private Limited in 2000, where they played a key role in building the company's IT department and supporting its growth. Overall, they have a diverse range of experience in information security management, risk mitigation, compliance, and technology implementation.

Vijay Narayan obtained a Masters Degree in Computer Applications from the University of Madras in 2003. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science in Electronics from PSG College of Arts and Science in 1995. Additionally, they have obtained certifications including SABSA from The SABSA Institute in 2017, Certification in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) from ISACA in 2015, CISM from ISACA in 2012, and CISSP from (ISC)² in 2005.
