The Quality Manager’s primary responsibilities include managing the organization’s quality functions and ensuring procedure adherence. This role also ensures that all products and processes consistently meet company and regulatory standards. The Quality Manager will identify and ensure non-conformities are root caused, communicated, and corrected. This role will ensure process integrity which in turn, minimizes company risk and maximizes customer satisfaction.

This is a full-time position based out of our Fort Myers, FL, Corporate HQ.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Candidates should have a minimum of 5 recent years of Quality experience in a leadership role for a manufacturing or distribution organization. Experience with FDA and/or ISO (13485) is required. A college degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field is not required but it is a plus.  Ideal candidates will have experience with battery operated vehicles or mobility equipment, and experience with domestic and international vendors.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, motivate, train, monitor, and coach assigned team members.
  • Review, verify, edit, and/or approve team member performance and time management (i.e., annual reviews, timecard review, and PTO requests).
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve strategies, quality control tests, inspection processes at various stages of production.
  • Prepare reports for documenting production/product issues.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to develop, maintain, and distribute training information to team members and dealers on parts and technical issues as well as required trainings.
  • Effectively communicate issues, improvements, and best practices though out Merit's multiple sites.
  • Prepare and present product/parts training to Merits staff and dealers.
  • Maintain regulatory Federal, State, and/or local standards as applicable.
  • Develop, manage, analyze/review and approve processes and procedures to ensure quality activities and initiatives.
  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and other research for quality projects and identify and recommend paths to improvement.
  • Identify and implement effective solutions that will continuously enhance the services to ensure maximum customer experience on all levels.
  • Oversee product assembly/production to ensure products meet quality standards and that cost-effective operations are maintained for the delivery of quality products.
  • Implement audits throughout the supply chain, ensuring quality standards, safety and legal requirements, and company policies and specifications are met.
  • Conducts or assists with performance and failure analysis of defective products or materials; identifies, recommends, or executes corrective actions.
  • Draft and recommend procedures to establish or improve quality standards, standard repairs, process controls, and inspection methods.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and approves manufacturing policies, processes, documentation, and operation
  • Business-related travel as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be very detailed oriented and organizational skills are needed to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must have solid time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Must have Quality experience in production and/or manufacturing, especially working with assembly line processes.

  • Must have very strong analytical, problem-solving skills in order to review systems, find flaws, and pose solutions and improvements.

  • Must have recent experience and skills with ERP systems (such as Epicor, NetSuite, or similar).

  • Must have very strong proficiencies with MS Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint).

  • Must be able to lead, motivate, manage, and mentor a diverse team.

  • Must speak, read, and write English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have a valid US Driver’s license in good standing and must maintain throughout employment.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Educational Requirements: A college degree is required with five (5) recent years of related Quality experience and a minimum of two (2) of leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education, professional certifications/training, Quality skills and experience, leadership skills and experience, and/or related industry experience. Certifications preferred and recognized: Lean, Six Sigma, TPS, CMQ/QE, cGMP, or other related/similar credentials.
