Phillip Coyle has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Phillip started their career in 2013 as a Delivery Experience Specialist at Tesla, where they conducted vehicle orientations and addressed delivery issues. In 2014, they interned at Cessna Aircraft Company, collaborating with engineers and designers to develop concepts for a business jet cabin interior. From 2016 to 2016, they interned at Boeing, processing wind tunnel data and evaluating aircraft handling characteristics.

Coyle then joined Wisk in 2017, initially as a Flight Test Engineer, where they debugged aircraft issues, conducted system tests, and collected flight data. Phillip later became a Staff Engineer, leading projects related to airspace integration and strategy, as well as advising company leadership on autonomous aircraft operations.

In 2021, Coyle joined Team Global as an Investment Consultant, providing advice on aviation-related topics and monitoring the industry for potential investments. Simultaneously, they joined Boom Supersonic as an Aerodynamics Engineer, designing and maintaining the aerodynamic model for the Overture supersonic aircraft and supporting its wind tunnel tests.

Most recently, Coyle has joined Merlin in 2023 as a Technology Policy & Regulatory Manager. Further details regarding this role are not available.

Besides their work experience, Coyle is also a co-founder and CEO of the Flight Simulation Association, an organization that promotes desktop flight simulation as an aid to pilot training and organizes the annual FlightSimExpo conference.

Phillip Coyle began their education journey in 2011 at Santa Clara University, where they completed a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. Phillip then pursued further studies at Stanford University from 2015 to 2017, earning a Master of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering. In addition to their academic achievements, Coyle obtained certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration. In September 2016, they obtained a Remote Pilot certification, and in July 2011, they acquired a Private Pilot (ASEL) and Instrument Airplane certification.
