Esther Tonea

Resident Artist at Merola Opera Program

Esther Tonea is an accomplished vocalist and musician currently serving as an Adler Fellow at the San Francisco Opera and as a Resident Artist with both the Merola Opera Program and Wolf Trap Opera. With a strong background in music education, Esther has held various teaching positions, including Cello Teacher at Harmony School of Music and Voice Teacher at Athens School of Music. Additionally, Esther contributes to the arts community as an Editor for Modern Singer Magazine. Esther holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance (Opera) from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and multiple Bachelor of Music degrees from The University of Georgia, encompassing disciplines in Voice and Cello. Esther’s early experience includes an internship at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, where research focused on the effects of relational memory on the hippocampus in rhesus macaques.
