Debra Michals

Debra Michals is an accomplished academic and editor with extensive experience in the fields of gender studies, US history, and journalism. Currently serving as an Associate Professor and Chair pro tem in the Humanities Department at Merrimack College since 2003, Michals has taught a variety of courses focused on gender in society and US history. In addition to academic roles, Michals has worked as a freelance development and consulting editor for various publishers from 2003 to 2017, contributing to numerous textbooks and E-books on history-related subjects. Writing for prominent magazines and serving as a consultant for the National Women's History Museum, Michals has produced significant content in women's history and entrepreneurship. Michals holds a Ph.D. in US History from New York University and two bachelor's degrees in journalism from Boston University.
