Gabriela Garcia

Director, Research at Merrimack

Gabriela Garcia has a diverse background in research and scientific roles. Gabriela began their career at Astrazeneca in 1998, where they worked as a Scientist for five years. Gabriela then joined TolerRx in 2003 as a Scientist for a year and later moved to Daiamed in 2004, where they also held the position of Scientist for a five-month period. In 2005, Gabriela joined Merrimack Pharmaceuticals, where they held various roles over the years. Gabriela started as a Principal Scientist and then progressed to the position of Associate Director, Research from 2009 to 2011. Gabriela eventually became the Director of Research in January 2012, a role they currently hold.

Gabriela Garcia has an extensive education history in the field of immunology and related disciplines. From 1981 to 1985, they pursued their Bachelor's degree in Biology, with a specialization in Microbiology and Immunology, at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. This was followed by their Master's degree in Microbiology and Immunology at the same institution from 1986 to 1989. Subsequently, Gabriela attended USP - Universidade de São Paulo from 1990 to 1994, where they completed their Ph.D. in Immunology. Finally, they pursued a Post Doc degree in Autoimmunity at Harvard University from 1994 to 1998.
