Dr. Wolfgang Liebetrau

Dr. Wolfgang Liebetrau has extensive experience in the field of intellectual property, particularly within the aesthetics and cosmeceuticals sectors. Currently serving as the Head of Global Patents (F&C) and Innovations at Merz Aesthetics since April 2020, Dr. Liebetrau has held various key positions including Director Global Legal and Principal Patent Manager. Prior to this role, Dr. Liebetrau worked at Merz Pharma GmbH & Co. KGaA from 2007 to April 2020, where responsibilities included Lead Patent Manager for Global IP Aesthetics & Cosmeceuticals. Earlier in the career, experience included roles at PROvendis GmbH as Manager Patents and Licensing, Xantos Biomedicine AG as Group Leader, and Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry as Senior Scientist. Dr. Liebetrau's educational background includes a diploma in Biology from Technische Universität Darmstadt, a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Wuerzburg, and a qualification as a Patent Ingenieur in Intellectual Property Law from FU Hagen.
