Principal Of Grand River Academy at Mesa County Valley School District 51

Steve States has worked at Mesa County Valley School District 51 since 1999. Steve started as a Teacher in August 1999 and became an Assistant Principal in August 2003. In August 2007, they were promoted to Principal and held this position until June 2014. In August 2014, they took on the role of Director of Academic Growth & Achievement for Elementary Schools. Starting in July 2018, they became the Principal of Grand River Academy.

Steve States earned a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Restoration and Waste Management, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from Colorado Mesa University in the years 1989 to 1996. Steve later obtained a Certification in Elementary Education and Teaching from the same institution during the years 1997 to 1999. Lastly, they received a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado, completing the program from 2001 to 2003.
