Anthony Veal

Anthony Veal is a Senior Scientific Consultant at the Met Office, with an extensive background in meteorology and climatology spanning over two decades. Since August 2001, Anthony has led scientific consultancy efforts, focusing on enhancing the Met Office's research capabilities and product quality. Previously, roles included Applied Scientist in the Climate Development Team and Research Scientist in Local Forecasting Research and Development, where significant contributions included the development of operational health project algorithms and the generation of vital climate statistics for NATO. Anthony's earlier career involved independent weather consulting and research positions at universities and local councils, emphasizing air quality assessment and winter road maintenance. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Meteorology and an MSc in Applied Meteorology and Climatology from the University of Birmingham.
