Rafael Frankel, PhD, serves as the Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia at Meta, overseeing a public policy team across 11 countries in the region. Previously, Rafael held several leadership roles at Meta, including directing public policy teams for APAC Emerging Countries and Southeast Asia Emerging Countries. Rafael is a Board Member of the US-ASEAN Business Council and has extensive experience from BowerGroupAsia, where responsibilities included leading client services and business development across the Asia-Pacific. Rafael's career also includes roles as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University and as a Senior Project Coordinator at Georgetown University Medical Center. A former freelance reporter, Rafael provided coverage for numerous publications and broadcast stations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Government with a focus on International Relations and a Master's in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, alongside a BA in Economics and Journalism from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
