Sebastian Ruder

Sebastian Ruder is an accomplished research scientist with extensive experience in natural language processing and multilingual capabilities. Currently employed at Meta since November 2024, Sebastian previously held the position of Research Scientist and Multilinguality Lead at Cohere, overseeing a team dedicated to enhancing multilingual functions in large language models. Prior to that, Sebastian contributed to Google DeepMind as a Research Scientist from March 2019 to January 2024 and worked at AYLIEN from October 2015 to February 2019, where significant advancements were made in aspect-based sentiment analysis. Earlier experience includes an internship at IBM, focusing on innovative text analysis applications. Sebastian holds a Ph.D. in Natural Language Processing from the University of Galway and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Language from Trinity College Dublin.
