Kate Senger

Principal Scientist at Metagenomi

Kate Senger has extensive experience in the field of scientific research. Kate currently serves as the Principal Scientist at Metagenomi since August 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Genentech for 15 years, starting in October 2007. Kate'srole there was as a Senior Principal Scientific Researcher, where they focused on validating disease targets and conducting basic research. Kate was involved in various aspects of the research process, including designing and implementing assays, collaborating on experimental designs and data analysis, and working with multiple departments. Kate has experience in a wide range of disease settings, such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, lupus, and IBD. Before their time at Genentech, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UC Berkeley from 2001 to 2007, where they conducted research on gene regulation. Kate also completed their PhD at Columbia University between 1997 and 2001, where they studied the transcriptional regulation of the interferon-beta gene.

Kate Senger earned their B.S in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1992 to 1995. Kate then pursued further education at Columbia University, where they received their M.A. and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from 1996 to 2001.
