Laju Jeremi

Laju Jeremi has a diverse work experience in various industries. They started their career as a Student Intern at the Department of Petroleum Resources in 2018, where they excelled in data analysis and report preparation. Laju then served as a Vice President in both the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists from 2019 to 2020.

In 2019, Laju also took on the role of EEP STEM Intern at the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria, contributing to the implementation of the Energizing Education Programme. They performed tasks such as conducting tests with geotechnical engineers and participating in construction work.

Laju further enriched their experience by interning as a Graduate Intern at EM-ONE Energy Solutions from 2020 to 2021. They gained technical, communication, and documentation skills, including monitoring real-time data and troubleshooting equipment.

In 2021, Laju participated in a Virtual Work Experience program at Stemettes.

More recently, Laju joined Metalex Commodities Inc. in 2022 as a Mine & Site Manager, responsible for operational planning and policy execution. Finally, for 2023, Laju has a role as a Researcher and Regional Team Leader (Africa) at IWiM - International Women in Mining, where they provide strong leadership to the regional team and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

Laju Jeremi attended the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) from 2015 to 2019, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Geology/Earth Science, General. In addition to their degree, Laju has earned several certifications, including the McKinsey Forward Program from McKinsey & Company in May 2023, Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Microsoft Excel from Side Hustle in December 2021, and USAID PA-NPSP ASPIRE: Women's Leadership Development Course- Cohort 26 from the USAID Southern Africa Energy Program, a Power Africa Initiative in November 2021. Laju also completed online courses such as Project Management: Creating WBS from Coursera in August 2021 and Project Planning and Initiation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, also on Coursera, in July 2021. Laju has received the title of Fellow from The Geological Society in June 2021 and achieved a Certificate of Competence from Global Engineering and Safety, although the specific dates of completion are not provided.
