Silje Bjølseth Amundsen

Silje Bjølseth Amundsen has had a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries. Silje Bjølseth is currently working as a Senior Engineer at the Meteorologisk institutt since January 2021. Before that, they worked as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Sopra Steria from September 2017 to December 2020.

Prior to Sopra Steria, Silje worked at Redpill Linpro as a System Consultant from September 2013 to August 2017. In this role, they were responsible for the operations and maintenance of servers and related technologies, primarily on Linux systems. Silje Bjølseth also had experience in configuration management using Puppet.

Silje's earlier work experience includes roles at the University of Oslo. Silje Bjølseth worked as a System administrator at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics from June 2011 to September 2013, where they were responsible for the operations and support of computers and the development of the machine room. Prior to that, they held the position of Head engineer from April 2009 to May 2011. Silje Bjølseth also worked as a Web editor from January 2009 to March 2009, where they were responsible for producing and publishing popular scientific articles about space and astronomy on the institute's website.

Additionally, Silje worked as an IT operations assistant from January 2008 to December 2008 and as a Computer Lab Assistant at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences from January 2006 to December 2007.

Silje Bjølseth Amundsen has a strong background in the field of astronomy and physics. In 2002, they began their undergraduate studies at the University of Oslo (UiO), majoring in physics and astronomy. Silje Bjølseth completed their Bachelor of Science degree in this field in 2007. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Astronomy at the University of Oslo in 2007, which they completed in 2008.

In addition to their academic achievements, Silje has obtained certifications in the field of system administration. In 2013, they became a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHEL6) from the institution Red Hat. Silje Bjølseth further expanded their knowledge and skills in system administration by obtaining another certification, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHEL7), in November 2018, also from Red Hat.
