The Company

MetOx Technologies, Inc. has a state-of-the-art facility located in Northwest Houston, TX.  MetOx Technologies, Inc. (MetOx) is a Houston-based manufacturer of High Temperature Superconducting wire (HTS), and a world leader in HTS technology.  Developed over the last decade, MetOx’s proprietary manufacturing technology for rapid scale up of commercial HTS production will be commissioning in second half of-2023.  MetOx is committed to empowering our sustainable energy future.

The Purpose

The Process and Measurements Engineer will own the accuracy and usefulness of several measurements being done during manufacturing. This individual will lead the addition of instruments for process variables not previously measurable.  This person will support and develop new processes and technology and will work closely with process engineering, manufacturing and other internal departments by providing reliable measurements.

The Position

The Process and Measurements Engineer will be responsible for providing reliable measurements to the process and manufacturing teams. In addition, this person will lead efforts to define and champion proper measurement equipment selection and installation with a focus on measurement risk minimization, operability, and fiscal responsibility. This person will develop new measurement methods and technology and will work closely with process engineering, manufacturing and other internal departments.

The Duties/Responsibilities

The Process and Measurements Engineer will be expected to perform a variety of additional roles from time to time, including:

  • Own the accuracy of test data from most process and product measurement equipment. 
  • Develop SOC and SOP for calibrating instruments and maintaining the instruments.
  • Help design new equipment and methods to measure new parameters as needed for better process control or new product capabilities.
  • Maintain control charts for key measurements to be responsible for outlining corrective response that needs to be taken to bring the measurement under control. 
  • Support manufacturing with test debugging, reduction of intermittent failures and downtime of test equipment. 
  • Analyze and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for use by test engineering and management personnel. 
  • Perform semi-routine technique development and maintenance, including ISO and QS development standards. 
  • Provide training in new procedures for production testing staff. 
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor. 

The Qualifications

The Process and Measurements Engineer must have the following:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Materials science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • 2 to 7 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience using statistical methods to gather data, analyze and resolve ongoing failure trends.
  • Ability to understand test scripts and make modifications as needed, 
  • Ability to solve random failures by interrogation of test logs/ software / physical measurement / visual identification, define implement and perform testing.
  • Project management skills
