Katie Cooper

Katie Cooper has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several industries. Katie has held various leadership roles throughout their career, with a focus on transportation and aviation.

Starting with their most recent position, Katie served as the Chief Executive Officer of Metro Tasmania Pty Ltd, the largest Tasmanian-owned passenger transport provider. Katie was responsible for managing a fleet of 230 buses and over 500 employees.

Prior to that, they established the Tasmanian Chapter of Chief Executive Women (CEW) and served as the Inaugural Chair. In this role, they created the governance structure and organized events to support women leaders.

Katie also worked as a Director at the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand and the Australian Airports Association, where they contributed to the growth and development of the organizations.

In the aviation industry, Katie held several key positions. Katie was the Head of Transformation and Head of Aviation Operations at Melbourne Airport, where they oversaw various business functions and led large teams. Katie also worked as the Head of Security at London Stansted Airport, responsible for ensuring compliance and operational standards.

Moreover, they served as the General Manager of Alice Springs & Tennant Creek Airports at Northern Territory Airports, where they managed all aspects of airport operations and development.

Earlier in their career, Katie worked at Air New Zealand in various roles, including Regional Airport Manager, Ramp Services Manager, Passenger Services Manager, Airport Manager, and Duty Manager. In these positions, they demonstrated strong leadership, operational management, and customer service skills.

Before joining Air New Zealand, they began their career at Ansett, where they held various positions, including Customer Recovery Coordinator and Customer Service Officer.

Katie Cooper has a diverse education history spanning multiple institutions and fields of study. In 2020, they attended the Harvard Business School Executive Education, where they pursued a Finance for Senior Executives program. In 2013, Katie completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership at Harvard Business School. Prior to that, in 2011, they obtained a GAICD Company Directors Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, specializing in governance. Katie also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Deakin University, which they earned between 2007 and 2010, with a focus on business. Furthermore, in 1999 to 2001, they pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Air Transport Management at Swinburne University of Technology, specializing in aviation.

Aside from formal degrees, Katie Cooper has also obtained several additional certifications. In 2021, they achieved the Accidental Company Secretary designation from the Governance Institute of Australia. Katie also obtained a certification in Leading Digital Transformation from AGSM @ UNSW Business School in June 2021. In 2019, Katie obtained a Safety Management Certification from Southpac Aerospace. In 2017, they acquired an Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) certification from Airport Council International.
