Michael Schommer

Michael Schommer currently serves as the Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement at Metro Transit, a position held since June 2025. Prior to this role, Michael was the Assistant Director of Strategic Communications at the Metropolitan Airports Commission from January 2024 to June 2025. Michael's extensive experience in communications includes serving as Communications Director for both the Minnesota Department of Health and the State of Minnesota, with a combined tenure from January 2013 to January 2013, and from October 1997 to January 2013, respectively. Michael began a career in journalism as a reporter and copy editor for the Rochester Post Bulletin and as a staff writer for The Journal. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Strategic Communications from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s degree in Print Journalism from the University of St. Thomas.
