Early Learning Mental Health Manager at Metropolitan Family Services

Shawna Johnson, LCSW, has extensive experience in mental health services, particularly within early childhood education. Currently serving as the Early Learning Mental Health Manager and ECE Mental Health Specialist at Metropolitan Family Services since October 2018, Shawna provides mental health consultation for various programs and offers professional development for early childhood staff. Previous roles include Senior Social Worker and Social Worker within the Adoption Support and Preservation program, where Shawna utilized certification in trauma and attachment-related approaches. Prior to this, Shawna worked as a Clinician at Family Service Agency of DeKalb County, conducting mental health assessments and individual therapy for a diverse client demographic. Shawna holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Aurora University and is pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health at the Erikson Institute.
