Teaching Artist at The Metropolitan Opera Guild

Shawn Farrar is an accomplished Teaching Artist at The Metropolitan Opera Guild since August 2016, focusing on opera-related school programming and professional development, as well as working with initiatives such as Urban Voices and Students Compose Opera. With extensive experience as a mezzo-soprano and an independent contractor since 1999, Shawn also served as Company Manager for Chris Wade Music Productions from July 2016 to September 2018, overseeing bookings, artist schedules, and client relations. Additional roles include Stage Manager for Utopia Opera's productions of Assassins and The Ballad of Baby Doe, Music Teacher for K-5 at Lefferts Gardens Charter School, and Maitre D' at Crafted Hospitality. Educational background includes a Master’s degree in Voice and Opera from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor’s degree in Voice and Opera from Simpson College.
