James Matthews

VP, Federal Services at Metropolitan Security Services

As vice president of operations for Walden Security’s Federal Services Division, James Matthews directs the U.S. Marshals Service Court Security Officer Program, which includes six U.S. Judicial Circuits. Bringing nearly 50 years of local and state law enforcement and federal security management, James provides day-to-day leadership over government and contract requirements, operational systems and processes, and overall department performance. He is also responsible for monitoring staffing needs for ongoing department growth, mentoring and guiding department leadership, leading all business development and strategic planning, and enforcing customer and company policies.

After starting his career with the U.S. Air Force Security Police, James pursued a path in law enforcement, where he served the Louisiana State Police for 26 years in various capacities, including Lieutenant, Public Information Officer, SWAT Team Commander, State Police Narcotics Unit Supervisor, Racing Investigations Unit Supervisor and Executive Officer for Troop G in Northwest Louisiana. He later served in several court security capacities, ranging from court security officer to 5th Circuit Contract Manager, maintaining responsibility for the U.S. Marshals Service contract in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
