David Farrell is an accomplished educator in the field of music composition and theory, currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Composition at Metropolitan State University of Denver since August 2011. In addition to this role, David also teaches courses within the Department of Music's composition and music theory curricula as Affiliate Faculty. Prior experience includes a Lectureship at Sam Houston State University, where classes focused on the core Music Theory and Aural Skills sequence, and an Associate Instructor position at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where coursework on counterpoint was developed and taught. David holds a Doctor of Music degree in Composition and a Master of Music degree in Composition from Indiana University Bloomington, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition/Music Theory from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
