Julie M. Thompson

Julie M. (Jules) Thompson, PhD., ADAC, currently serves as the Assistant Provost for Academic Effectiveness at Metro State University, a position held since July 2014 where responsibilities include managing a $1.2 million budget and supervising a team of 40 professional staff as part of the University's Student Success Leadership Team. Prior experience includes roles as a Teaching Consultant at the University of Minnesota, where consultation with faculty improved writing instruction, and as the Director of the Writing Center at Hamline University, recognized for significant contributions to staff diversity and service. Thompson's academic career began with a tenure as an Assistant Professor at Southwestern University, marked by teaching excellence and scholarly achievements, including numerous awards and grants. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Communication and Culture from Indiana University Bloomington and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from St. Cloud State University.
