Justin Downes

Justin Downes is currently serving as the Sr. Director of R&D at MetroStar since October 2023. Prior to this position, Downes worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) for four years, where roles included Computer Vision Practice Manager and Sr. Data Scientist. At Booz Allen Hamilton, from May 2018 to October 2019, Downes focused on research in computer vision and related fields. Earlier experiences include serving as Sr. Software Architect at Leidos, working on big data solutions, and as Principal Investigator at Vickers Nolan Enterprises (VNE), where innovative research on dynamic semantic graphs was conducted. Downes's career began in communications security at CACI International Inc and as a Communications Intelligence Intercept Operator in the USMC. Educationally, Downes is currently pursuing a PhD in Computational Social Science at George Mason University, with prior degrees in Geographic Information Systems and Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and The George Washington University, respectively.
