Manny Morales has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Manny began their career in 1988 with the US Army, serving as part of the 258th Military Police Company until 1992. In 1994, they joined the City Of Miami Police, starting as a Police Officer. Over the years, they progressed through various positions, including Police Detective, Police Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, and Police Commander. In 2016, they became a Major and later served as the Assistant Chief of Police Operations from 2018 to 2021. Manny then assumed the role of Interim Police Chief from October 2021 to February 2022 before being appointed Chief of Police in February 2022.
Manny Morales obtained their Master's degree in Homeland Security from the Naval Postgraduate School, where they studied from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Organizational Leadership from St. Thomas University, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. In addition to their academic degrees, Morales obtained a certification in Senior Executives in State and Local Government from the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education in July 2019.
