Sylas Rehbein is an Energy Engineer at Michaels Energy, specializing in saving kWh through commercial and industrial utility programs by collaborating directly with building owners to implement effective energy-saving solutions. Previously, Sylas served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education, focusing on built-environment energy and renewable generation in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Sylas also participated as an Entrepreneurial Lead in the DOE Energy ICORPS Cohort 15, working towards market pathways for lab-invented technologies. Prior experience includes roles as a Development Engineer II and Development Engineer at Daikin Applied Americas, where Sylas led the design of rooftop packaged products and contributed to commercial HVAC system development. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Energy Science Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
