Caroline Alexander

Partner, FCILEx at Michelmores

Caroline is a Partner in the Tax, Trusts & Succession team and joined Michelmores in 2017 after working at Clarke Willmott for the previous 13 years.

Caroline assists executors and administrators with the administration of high net worth and complex estates frequently with foreign or contentious elements. Often these administrations also involve negotiations with HM Revenue & Customs over the payment of Inheritance Tax and specialist advice in claiming the relevant exemptions and reliefs. Caroline has expertise in Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief and is experienced in assisting personal representatives of large landed estates. Caroline also has niche expertise in dealing with estates with charitable elements and understands the reporting requirements charities need to meet in their capacity as beneficiaries, executors or administrators. Caroline heads up a bespoke private wealth sub-team at Michelmores whose primary focus is on expertise in probate matters both nationally and internationally and as such Michelmores have a strong and solid offering in this area.

Breaking new ground in 135 years of Michelmores history Caroline is the first Chartered Legal Executive to become a partner at Michelmores. Caroline is keen to focus on "home growing" talent here at Michelmores and to support people who may need to, or choose to, take an alternative route into law.

Outside of work Caroline enjoys spending time with her two boys and her husband, mountain biking and taking long walks in the beautiful West Country (with an obligatory pub stop enroute of course!).
