Julie Fregien

Director Of District Data Strategy at Michigan City Area Schools

Julie Fregien has a range of work experience in the education field. Julie started their career in 2006 as a Day Camp Site Director & Counselor at the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee and later became the Teen Director at Portage Township YMCA. In 2008, they transitioned to become a Teacher at Merrillville Community Schools. Julie then moved on to K12 in 2014, where they served as an Academic Team Leader/Assistant Principal, responsible for coordinating professional development and supporting student testing. Julie joined School City of Whiting in 2015 as a High School Principal. In 2019, they joined Michigan City Area Schools as an Associate Principal and later became the High School Principal. Currently, they hold the role of Director of District Data Strategy at Michigan City Area Schools.

Julie Fregien's education history includes a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General, which they obtained from Ball State University between 2011 and 2013. Prior to that, they attended Valparaiso University from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Education.

In addition to their formal education, Julie has obtained several certifications. In October 2021, they completed a Data Visualization with Tableau certification from Indiana Wesleyan University. In June 2018, they earned the Microsoft Office Specialist Master Certification (MOS) and the Microsoft Office Specialist: Master on Microsoft Office 2016 Certification, both from Microsoft. Furthermore, they became a Google Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2 in July 2016, receiving these certifications from Google.
