Second Flute, Piccolo at Michigan Philharmonic

Shelly Rouse-Freitag is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in flute performance and woodwind instruction. Currently serving as the Beginning Woodwind Instructor and Introduction to Instruments Coordinator at Walled Lake Consolidated Schools since August 2022, Rouse-Freitag also performs as a second flutist and piccolo player with the Michigan Philharmonic and holds positions with the Oakland Symphony Orchestra and Warren Symphony Orchestra. With a background in teaching at both middle and high school levels, Rouse-Freitag has been coaching flute ensembles since 2001 and has played a key role in assisting K-12 students with instrument selection at Marshall Music Co. Educated at prestigious institutions including the University of Michigan and Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Rouse-Freitag holds degrees in flute performance and pedagogy.
