John Dockstader has over 20 years of work experience in engineering roles. John started their career at Cummins, Inc as a Senior Design Engineer from 1999 to 2002. John then worked at Scientific Dimensions, Inc as a Contract Engineer for a brief period in 2002. At Zimmer, they served as a Senior Development Engineer, leading cross-functional teams in the development of surgical instruments and knee implants from 2003 to 2010. John created Design History Files and conducted investigations on product failures during this time. Later, they joined DJO Surgical as a Senior Product Development Engineer, specializing in hips and shoulders, for a few months in 2010 before becoming the Manager of Customs and Specials. In this role, they managed engineers and machine shops in designing and building custom implants and instruments. John also developed procedures and workflows for instrument and implant creation. Since 2014, John has been working at MicroPort Orthopedics, initially as a Product Development Engineer for hips and later as a Senior Manager in Sustaining Engineering and Engineering Services. In their current position, they revised Design Controls procedures, served as the Design Controls Subject Matter Expert for audits, and now oversees the sustaining engineering and engineering services department.

John Dockstader has a strong educational background in the field of Mechanical Engineering. John obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at the University of Michigan, where they completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering, spanning from 1997 to 1999.

To enhance their business acumen, John Dockstader pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration at Ball State University from 2005 to 2008.

In addition to their formal education, John Dockstader has obtained various certifications related to their field. John earned the Certified SolidWorks Associate certification from Dassault Systèmes in December 2013. This certification highlights their competence in utilizing SolidWorks, a popular computer-aided design (CAD) software. John also achieved the Certified SolidWorks Professional - Advanced Drawing Tools certification from the same institution during the same time period, further showcasing their expertise in utilizing advanced features of the software.
