Ian Hoyle

Ian Hoyle, PhD, is a seasoned technology professional with extensive experience in security solutions at Microsoft since August 2008, currently serving as a Senior Security Technical Specialist specializing in Microsoft's Defender threat platform. Previously, Ian held various positions at Microsoft including Security and Compliance Technical Specialist and Threat Management Technical Specialist, focusing on advanced security tools like Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection and Azure Advanced Threat Protection. Ian has also worked as a Chief Digital Advisor, Enterprise Architect, and Technology Strategist, providing advisory services and technology leadership. Prior to joining Microsoft, Ian served as Principal Architect Technology at BHP Billiton and held key technical roles in early internet services development, alongside a strong foundation in scientific research as a Senior Research Scientist at BHP Melbourne Research Labs. Ian holds a PhD in Geophysics and multiple degrees in related fields from the University of New England and UNSW.
