Richard E. Spinell is Principal of Mid-America Asset Management, Inc. Since joining the firm in 1992, Mid-America Asset Management has become the Midwest’s premier full service retail real estate company. In 2000, Mr. Spinell helped direct the firm’s geographic expansion in opening the Milwaukee, Wisconsin office followed by the Minnesota office in 2008 and Michigan in 2011. Mid-America Asset Management continues to focus on being the dominant Midwest retail real estate company representing more than 50 million square feet of shopping centers throughout the Midwest. Clients include many of the major pension funds, insurance companies, real estate investment trusts, banks, special servicers and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Spinell manages all of the new business development and leasing efforts in the Mid-America Asset Management portfolio. Furthermore, given his finance background, he works closely with Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales Division in generating and supporting the investment sale business. He is actively involved in all of the anchor tenant transactions and supports the efforts of the leasing team in all other transactions within the portfolio. Also, in 2020, Mr. Spinell was instrumental in creating MA Building Services, a full service cleaning and facility business that is operating in each of Mid-America's Midwest offices.

Mr. Spinell is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in Business Administration. He completed graduate school at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, where he graduated with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), a concentration in Finance of Real Estate Investment. He is very active in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the local board.
