Akbar Syed has over 14 years of experience in the media industry. Akbar started their career at Ten Sports as a Presentation Scheduler and Traffic Coordinator from December 2003 to January 2005. Akbar then joined OSN as a Presentation Scheduler for Sports Channels from February 2005 to March 2006. Akbar then became a Senior Programming Coordinator at OSN, where they were responsible for creating and updating weekly schedules of PPV channels, generating monthly financial reports from PPV subscriptions, and producing creative schedules for all movie channels from May 2006 to October 2007.

Akbar's next role was at Middle East Broadcasting Center (MBC) as an Assistant Planning Manager from October 2007 to December 2010. In this position, they assisted in creating schedules for MBC 2, MBC 4, and MBC Action, handled the programming aspect of launching the second 24-hour movie channel "MBC Max" and "MBC Persia," generated monthly budget reports, and coordinated with the traffic department for materials in advance.

At MBC, Akbar then became a Senior Planning Manager for MBC 2, MBC 4, MBC Max, and MBC Action from January 2011, and is presently in this role. Akbar produces creative schedules for these channels, manages content budgets, and assists channel managers in selecting content.

Most recently, Akbar took on the role of Senior Channel Manager for MBC Bollywood, MBC Persia, and MBC+ Power in June 2013. Akbar launched and developed MBC Bollywood as the region's premier destination for Bollywood content on a free-to-air platform for Arab audiences. Akbar is responsible for the channel's budget and revenue targets and designs its long-term strategy to achieve rating and revenue goals.

Akbar Syed began their education in the year 2000 at the University of Central Oklahoma, where they pursued a field of study in Marketing. After completing their studies in 2001, Akbar proceeded to attend Brookhaven Community College from 2001 to 2003, earning an Associate's Degree.
