Sohler began their career in 1984 as an account executive at Wimmershoff & Associates. Bernadette then moved to Keyes Martin Advertising & Public Relations, where they served as an account executive for four years. In 1993, Sohler founded their own marketing communications firm, Sohler & Ryerson Communications. The firm provided copywriting, sales, and collateral support to clients. Bernadette ran the firm for one year before joining Middlesex Water as the Vice President of Corporate Affairs.

Sohler has been with Middlesex Water for over 20 years. In their role, they are responsible for all aspects of the company’s communications, including media relations, employee communications, investor relations, and government affairs.
