Bill Steiner has a diverse work experience spanning over several roles and industries. Bill began their career as an Intern at Metropolitan Edison in 1984. Bill then worked as a Distribution Engineer at PSNH from 1987 to 1989 and as a Senior Engineer at Avista from 1989 to 1995.

In 1995, they joined Open Systems International as a Systems Manager until 1999 when they transitioned to Xcel Energy as the Manager of Energy Management System. At Xcel Energy, they were responsible for managing the day-to-day support staff and operations of the SCADA/EMS.

In 2005, Bill joined Siemens Energy as a Project Manager. Bill served as the Global Development Manager, leading a department of 35 engineers across 4 countries. Bill also worked as a Commercial Project Manager, overseeing the implementation of large Energy Management Systems for electric utilities. During their time at Siemens Energy, they managed the development of a cyber security product sponsored by the Department of Energy.

Since 2013, Bill has been with the Midwest Reliability Organization. Bill initially served as a Risk Assessment and Mitigation Principal, where their responsibilities included validating potential NERC CIP violations and developing mitigation plans for compliance. Bill also provided industry outreach and delivered training on energy management systems. Later, they became the Director of Risk Assessment and Mitigation before taking on their current role as the Director of Compliance.

Bill Steiner, CISSP PMP, obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a focus on Power Systems and Machines from Drexel University. Bill attended Drexel University from 1983 until 1987.
