Julie Peterson has extensive work experience in various legal roles. Julie is currently the Vice President General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Midwest Reliability Organization. Prior to this, they worked as the Assistant Corporate Secretary & Senior Counsel at the same organization. Julie also holds a position as a Plymouth City Council Member - Ward 2 for the City of Plymouth. In the past, they served as the Director of Legal Operations / EMVCo Operations and Legal Secretariat at Alliances Management. Julie's earlier experiences include working as an Attorney at Special Counsel, a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Hawaii's Department of the Attorney General, an Associate Attorney at Nilles Law Firm, and a Judicial Law Clerk at the Ninth Judicial District, State of Minnesota.

Julie Peterson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of North Dakota, where they studied from 1995 to 2000. Julie then went on to pursue their Juris Doctorate at The University of North Dakota School of Law from 2000 to 2003.

Welcome to Midwest Reliability Organization! ​Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) is dedicated to achieving its vision of a highly reliable and secure North American bulk power system. The MRO region spans the provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and all or parts of the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin. The region is comprised of more than 200 organizations that are involved in the production and delivery of electricity, including municipal utilities, cooperatives, investor-owned utilities, transmission system operators, federal power marketing agencies, Canadian Crown Corporations, and independent power producers. MRO's primary responsibilities are to: ensure compliance with mandatory Reliability Standards by entities who own, operate, or use the interconnected, international BPS; conduct assessments of the grid's ability to meet electricity demand in the region; and analyze regional system events. Additionally, MRO creates an open forum for stakeholder experts in the region to discuss important topics related to addressing risk and improving reliable operations of the power grid.
