MIFO

The Mouvement d’implication francophone d’Orléans (MIFO) is a multidisciplinary centre offering various French services related to the arts, the cultural, and the community sectors. For more than 40 years, it has been showcasing the Francophone culture and promoting the diversity of cultural expressions in the Orléans community. The MIFO is also the main presenter of Francophone professional performances at the Shenkman Arts Centre. Upon its creation in 1979, the MIFO propelled forward the identity and aspirations of an entire generation wanting to live and prosper in French. Over four decades, thousands of dedicated, committed, and courageous individuals have transformed the MIFO into the largest Franco-Ontarian cultural and community centre in the province. At the MIFO, we create unique moments, we design experiences, and we foster memories from early childhood to retired life. We break the isolation of seniors and new immigrants by offering them a place to thrive and have fun in French. We accompany children in their early education and love watching them grow. We get our inspiration and our passion from our little ones to our young at heart older adults: they inspire us to give what is best to the next generation that will lead our community. We stir cultural and artistic curiosity by orchestrating hundreds of events that cement Ottawa’s identity.
