Emi Katsuta has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. They began their career as an intern at Ford Models in 2005 before moving on to work as a Sales Associate at Rags from 2006 to 2008. In 2008, they interned at Alexander Wang Inc., gaining experience in sales and merchandise. Emi then worked as a PR Intern at Louis Vuitton in 2010. From 2011 to 2013, they served as a Retail Merchandising/Operations Assistant at Comptoir des Cotonniers, where they handled various responsibilities such as analyzing business and stock levels, conducting market research, and assisting in marketing operations. In 2013, Emi joined Hermès and held various roles including Merchandise Coordinator, Junior Merchandising Manager, Merchandise Manager for Home & Tableware, and finally, as a Senior Merchandise Manager for MRTW, Men's Shoes, Masculine Silk & Equestrian. Currently, they are working at Mighty since 2019, where they initially served as a Junior Full Stack Developer before being promoted to their current role as a Full Stack Developer in May 2021.

Emi Katsuta began their education journey in 2007 at Hamilton College, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Art and French. Emi completed their studies in 2011. During their time at Hamilton College, Emi also had an opportunity to study Art History at Ecole Du Louvre in Paris in 2009-2010. In the same year, they also attended the Fashion Institute of Technology to study Design for a brief period.

In 2019, Emi enrolled at the Flatiron School to further enhance their skills in Full Stack Web Development, focusing on Ruby on Rails and JavaScript.
