Scott Birney

Scott Birney, SE, PE, is an accomplished structural engineering professional currently serving as the Director of Structural Engineering at Milhouse since June 2025. Prior experience includes leadership roles at DLR Group as the Senior Structural Engineer and Chicago Studio Leader, where an integrated structural team focused on education and civic projects was established. Scott's extensive background encompasses project management and structural design at GreenbergFarrow, award-winning services at CMBA Architects, and various engineering responsibilities at Olsson Associates and RockSol Consulting Group. Scott also has experience in field management with Mercy Response and participated in the Sixteen Feet a cappella group during college. A graduate of Swarthmore College, Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Structural Engineering.
