Stephen LaPlante has over 30 years of work experience. From 1987 to 1993, they worked at Comerica Bank as a Loan Workout Officer and Commercial Loan Analyst in the Dealer Commercial Services and Middle Market. From 1993 to 2003, they were a Partner at Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C. For the past 17 years, they have been with Miller Canfield as a Deputy Group Leader in the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Group and a Senior Principal. Stephen has expertise in the automotive industry, supply chain protection, and cross-border insolvency, and is admitted to practice law in Michigan and Ontario.

Stephen LaPlante received their BBA in Finance from the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business between 1985 and 1987. Stephen then attended Wayne State University Law School, graduating with their JD in 1992. In 2018, they completed their Master of Laws - LLM in Canadian Common Law from York University - Osgoode Hall Law School.
