Karla Simmons has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Karla started their career at Levy Restaurants, where they worked in restaurant operations from 1997 to 1999. Karla then joined Foodgalaxy.com, a start-up software company, where they played a role in the initial product roll-out and implementation of web-based software for the hospitality industry.
In 2001, Karla became an Account Executive at Henricksen, where they stayed until 2005. During this time, they developed their skills in account management and sales.
Karla then joined CoreNet Global as the President of the Chicago Chapter from 2011 to 2013. In this role, they were responsible for connecting corporate real estate professionals and creating a platform for networking and knowledge sharing.
From 2005 to 2015, Karla worked at HNI Corporation as a Strategic Account Manager. Here, they led the rebranding of the company's global team and successfully implemented new practices and tools.
Currently, Karla is a Global Account Manager at MillerKnoll. In their current role, they leverage their team's strengths to execute account strategies globally. Karla focuses on understanding client needs, conducting business reviews, and formulating solutions to meet challenges, resulting in sales growth and trusted relationships. Karla also leads MillerKnoll's Gender Business Equity Group, promoting inclusivity and eliminating barriers based on gender.
Karla Simmons obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Hospitality & Tourism from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where they attended from 1987 to 1991. Karla furthered their education by earning an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell University in July 2020.
