Sharif Shawki

Sharif Shawki has extensive experience in the legal field, with their most recent role being as Counsel at MillerKnoll. Prior to this, they worked at Uniper as a Legal Counsel, where they provided legal, regulatory, and compliance support to their North American gas and power trading/origination business. Additionally, they served as the Corporate Secretary for the US and Canadian businesses and was responsible for developing, drafting, and negotiating structured commodity transactions. Before joining Uniper, Shawki was a Team Lead - Contracts at BP, where they negotiated high-value contracts and provided expert commercial guidance to traders. Sharif also managed a team of attorneys and played a key role in establishing new trading benches and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Sharif Shawki holds a J.D. degree with a magna cum laude distinction from the University of Illinois College of Law. Sharif also obtained a BA degree in Sociology with a summa cum laude distinction from Illinois Wesleyan University. Additionally, Sharif Shawki studied History and Law at the University of Oxford. Sharif is also certified by the ARDC: Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois, having been admitted to the Illinois Bar.
