Jim Stubstad has extensive experience in RF engineering and hardware development, spanning over three decades. Jim is currently working as a Senior RF/HW Engineer at Mimiq since September 2021. Previously, they worked at Peloton Technology as an RF/Electronics Engineer from June 2017 to October 2020, where they focused on RF integration, regulatory compliance, and improving V2V performance. Prior to this, they served as a Senior RF Engineer at Fastback Networks from June 2011 to January 2017. Jim also worked as an Applications Engineer at Quantance from February 2008 to May 2011. Before that, they ran their own consulting firm, Jim Stubstad Consulting, as the Principal from June 2006 to February 2008. Their experience also includes the role of Director of Hardware Engineering at Proxim Wireless from February 1993 to June 2006. Jim joined Proxim Wireless as the 2nd RF Engineer and eventually became the Development lead on FHSS WLAN products, earning the position of Director of Hardware Engineering. Earlier in their career, Jim worked as a Senior Engineer at Hewlett Packard California Personal Computer Division in 1992. Jim began their career at Equatorial Communications, Contel ASC, and GTE Spacenet, where they held various roles as an RF Engineer, Senior RF Engineer, and Engineering Leader. During this time, they completed pioneering work on two-way C band VSATs and received the Contel ASC Quality award. Jim's early engineering experience also includes working as an Engineer at Varian Associates Solid State Microwave Division, where they designed mmW oscillators and characterized mmW diodes.
Jim Stubstad attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1975 to 1979, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electronic Engineering. Jim then continued their education at the same university from 1980 to 1982, completing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electronic Engineering.
