Konstantinos Vanezis has a diverse work experience in the field of genetic medicine and biology. Konstantinos is currently working at MiNA Therapeutics as a Senior Research Scientist, where they manage a team and conducts experimental work for various projects in the genetic medicine pipeline. Their research focuses on ex vivo and in vitro biodistribution studies and the development of novel therapeutics. Konstantinos also collaborates with various CROs for in vivo studies.
Prior to that, Vanezis worked as a Research Scientist at MiNA Therapeutics, where they contributed to the development of novel oligonucleotide therapies for genetic diseases. Their responsibilities included oligonucleotide screening, EC50 analysis, cross-correction studies, and disease models.
Before joining MiNA Therapeutics, Vanezis worked at Imperial College London as a Project Manager and Postdoctoral Associate. Konstantinos managed Prof. Stuart Cook's laboratory team and conducted extensive research on the role of interleukin 11 (IL-11) in age-related fibrosis and inflammation. Konstantinos also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where they conducted experiments on aortopathies and aortic fibrosis.
Vanezis gained research experience at Harvard University as a Research Fellow. Konstantinos contributed to projects involving pluripotency maintenance and differentiation of embryonic stem cells, reprogramming of fibroblasts, and the development of the Reduced Representation Bisulfite Sequencing (RRBS) technique.
Konstantinos started their career as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Marine Sciences (CSIC), where they designed and conducted experiments on epigenetic modifications related to sexual determination/differentiation in zebrafish. Konstantinos also managed the zebrafish colony and gained proficiency in bisulfite sequencing sample preparation and analysis.
Konstantinos Vanezis began their education by earning a Bachelor's degree in Biology, General from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) from 2005 to 2010. Konstantinos continued their studies at Imperial College London, where they obtained an MSc in Molecular Medicine from 2011 to 2012. Konstantinos then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular and Regenerative Cardiology at Imperial College London from 2012 to 2017.
In terms of additional certifications, Konstantinos obtained a Personal License Holder certification from the UK Home Office in January 2013. Konstantinos also acquired the Health and Safety Manager certification from Imperial College London in September 2018. Furthermore, they became a Deputy Project License Holder through the UK Home Office in July 2019. Recently, in September 2021, they obtained the First Aid at Work Qualification + AED from Marlin Training Ltd.
To further enhance their skills in leadership and organizational leadership, Konstantinos pursued a Team Leader degree from the Chartered Management Institute for the duration of 2020 to 2021.
