With nearly 35 years of experience in information technology, Tom Kirstein specializes in providing innovative solutions to traditional business challenges.
Tom serves as managing partner of Mind Over Data, a custom systems development and integration firm he co-founded in 2002. The company has built technical solutions for clients large and small, ranging from The Fire Museum of Memphis and The Woody Guthrie Center to FedEx, International Paper, Hilton and ServiceMaster.
Before founding Mind Over Data, Tom served as managing partner at Universal Solutions, LLC, a systems development integration firm that merged with Memphis tech startup dotLogix in 2001. Prior to that, Tom played integral roles in building the IT systems for The Disney Store’s North American distribution center starting in 1998 and for R.R. Donnelley & Sons’ Digital Division beginning in 1994.
A Chicago native, Tom is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Computer Science. He completed his Infantry Officers Basic Course and Infantry Basic/Advanced Training in Fort Benning, GA and, prior, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, BSA with Troop 347 in Crystal Lake, IL.
Tom and his wife reside in Memphis and have two children. Among his pastimes are reading, learning how things work and embarrassing his kids whenever possible.
