Technical Artist at Mindshow

Austin Booker has a diverse work experience that spans across different companies and roles. Austin started their career as a Game Designer/Artist at PHL Collective in 2014, where they designed, modeled, and developed characters and attack patterns. Austin then worked as a Teaching Assistant/3D Digital Art Instructor at Carnegie Mellon University, where they instructed students in 3D modeling and development. In 2018, they joined Shield AI as a Technical Artist and was responsible for integrating assets and tools into the company's simulation system. Austin provided support to AI engineers and scientists to simplify user engagement with UE4 and developed procedural/parameterized tools for utilization in UE4 and Shield AI's simulation system.

In 2020, Austin joined IT People Corporation: Lenovo as a Technical Artist/VR Designer, where they created and integrated static and dynamic environment assets for VR in Unity and optimized, animated, and integrated VR interfaces for Pico VR educational projects. Later in the same year, they worked as a Designer/Technical Artist at Toptal, where they designed interfaces and interactions for VR in Unity and Unreal Engine and assisted clients with developing, optimizing, animating, and integrating environments and characters.

Austin joined Virbela in 2021 as a Technical Artist, where they organized and integrated assets into the Unity Game Engine and assisted the team in developing tools, pipelines, and workflows for the Unity Game Engine. Austin also worked as a Technical Artist at FabuLingua, Inc. in the same year and was responsible for managing animators/technical artists, assisting artists, designers, and engineers in improving content creation pipelines and integration and driving initiatives to standardize solutions across the organization.

Austin's latest work experience is at Mindshow, where they will work as a Technical Artist from 2023 onwards. Austin will be responsible for providing support to content creators for tools, pipelines, and feature requests, designing and developing improved material pipelines, processes, and workflows, and assisting and mentoring teams in researching and implementing tools and technology. Before joining Mindshow, Austin worked as a Technical Artist at eGym from 2016 onwards, where they were responsible for task management, pipeline creation, rendering, and optimization, and character and equipment development, rigging, and animations.

Austin Booker obtained a Master's of Entertainment Technology degree from Carnegie Mellon University, specializing in Entertainment Technology, from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they had received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fine Art Sculpture and Art Education from New Jersey City University between 2005 and 2011.
