Derek Brown

Derek Brown has over 30 years of work experience in various roles within the mining and resources industry. Derek most recently served as the Project Director Lithium at Mineral Resources Limited in 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the General Manager Leonora at St Barbara Limited from July 2022 to October 2022. From 2017 to 2022, Derek held multiple positions at Fortescue Metals Group, including Director Projects and General Manager of Solomon and Cloudbreak operations. Before that, they worked as the General Manager Project Delivery at Newcrest Mining in 2016. Derek also has experience in executive roles at Calibre Global as the Managing Director and Head of Minerals and Metals Division. Derek has also held positions at Barrick Gold Corporation, Rio Tinto Iron Ore, Mount Isa Mines, JCI Limited, and Anglo American Coal.

Derek Brown completed their Masters degree in Maintenance Management at UCQ from 2004 to 2006. Prior to that, they obtained a BSc Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, graduating between 1979 and 1983. Derek's education history also includes attending Bannerman High School in Glasgow from 1974 to 1979.
