Pradnya Rao

Pradnya Rao is a research scientist at Minerals Technologies Inc. since June 2021, specializing in the development of mineral-based coatings and packaging materials. Rao has extensive experience in the field of research and development, having previously held positions such as summer intern in synthesis R&D at the University of Maine System, co-op R&D scientist at WestRock Company focusing on sustainable barrier materials, and collaborative research scientist at Harvard University, where cellulose-based nanomaterials were synthesized and analyzed. Prior experience includes a sensory research scientist role at Monell Chemical Senses Center and various internships and training at chemical companies, including Galaxy Surfactants, Godrej Industries, BASF, and Unitop Chemicals. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Colloids and Surface Science Technology from the University of Maine, an M.S. in Food Science and Technology from Drexel University, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering as well as a B.Tech in Oil, Oleochemicals, and Surfactants from the Institute of Chemical Technology.
