Fábio Souto

Group Platform Engineering Lead at Miniclip

Fábio Souto has a comprehensive work experience spanning over 13 years. Fábio started their career as a Junior Researcher at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, where they developed expertise in Linux Kernel hacking and C language. Fábio then worked as a Software Engineer at GEDI before becoming an Information Systems Manager at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, where they managed databases, integrated systems, and developed websites using CSS, Ajax, jQuery, PHP, and SQL.

After that, Fábio joined Reitoria da Universidade de Lisboa as an Intern, where they studied and implemented an integration between the university's academic database and e-learning platforms. Fábio also contributed code to Moodle as open-source contributions and developed an architecture for integrating Moodle with SiGES installations.

In 2013, Fábio started working at Miniclip as a Software Developer. There, they worked on various projects including Very Large Scale solution development using Erlang, PHP 5 object-oriented development, webservices development and maintenance, and social network integration. Fábio then progressed to become a Lead Developer, leading the Web Division team, migrating the codebase to the latest PHP versions, and developing APIs for internal services. In their most recent role at Miniclip as a Group Platform Engineering Lead, Fábio led a team of 6 developers, working on projects such as transitioning systems from PHP to Golang and integrating new APM systems.

Throughout their career, Fábio has showcased proficiency in a wide range of technologies and tools including PHP, Erlang, MySQL, Redis, Memcache, Git, Bamboo, Jenkins, JIRA, and various AWS services. Fábio has demonstrated strong leadership skills, the ability to improve processes and security, and a commitment to innovation and development.

Fábio Souto obtained a BSc in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Lisbon, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Fábio then pursued further education at the same institution and completed their MSc in Architectures, Networks and Computer Systems, specializing in Computer Science Engineering, from 2009 to 2012.
