Gerardo Irimia Arosemena is a seasoned diplomat with extensive legal and international relations experience, currently serving as a career diplomat and legal advisor in the Dirección de Asuntos Jurídicos Internacionales y Tratados at the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Panamá, a position held since July 2016. Previous roles include subdirector of Relaciones Económicas Internacionales and various diplomatic positions at the Embassy of the Republic of Panama in Argentina and the Permanent Mission of Panama to the UN. Prior to this, Gerardo served as a ministerial advisor at the Ministerio de Desarrollo Agropecuario and held legal advisory and consular roles at the Autoridad Marítima de Panamá and the Consulado General de Panamá in La Coruña, Spain. Gerardo is currently pursuing a doctorate in political science at Universidad de Belgrano and holds multiple master's degrees in Maritime Administration, International Internet Law, and Law and Political Sciences from reputable institutions.
